Our felts are thicker than regular craft felts, varying between 3-4 mm. The felt material is made of 70% Finnish recycled textiles, such as workwear. The material contains 30% new polyester binding fibers. The textiles are recycled at the end of their life cycle after industrial washing.

⁃ Soft felt protects other materials as a protection for the bottom of a drawer or the surface of a shelf, as a table mat or even as a sheet on sauna benches.

⁃ Felt is a great acoustic material that can be used for many projects that combine acoustics and aesthetics.

⁃ The felt has cheerful colors and is easy to make into ecological decorations for home parties, such as streamers or Christmas tree decorations. You can cut out lovely colorful spots from the felt, for example, for a child's room.

⁃ Felt is also suitable for many different machine tools and combines well with both metal and woodworking. It can also be used as a reinforcement material in crafts. Pinterest is full of great applications for felt.

⁃ Felt is quite easy to sew or knit, although thicker material does not always work on all sewing machines. Felt can be quickly made into various storage bags, sauna hats, storage baskets, pot covers, etc.

The felts are clean and have all hard parts of the clothing, such as buttons and zippers, removed. There may be small remnants of hard parts among the blanket.

Felt can be washed, which can cause it to fluff, soften and shrink slightly. The effects of washing are felt-specific, but in general the material withstands washing well and, for example, shrinkage is very small.

Felt is made from fiber blends that were in clothing, such as cotton, wool, and synthetic fibers such as polyester. The felt can shed dust and microfibers associated with these fibers. These are also shed to varying degrees from all textiles.

The work clothes have been opened back into fibers at Rester's production facility in Paimio. The recycled material has been finished into felt by Vilikkala, in their production in Salo. By using Vilikkala's felt materials, you support the Finnish circular economy of textiles.
