Vilikkala room dividers for the textile sorting center in Turku
The textile sorting center of Southwest Finland Waste Management (LSJH) and the textile recycling store Lemppari will officially open their doors on Wednesday, November 22. The space needed elements that would enable a connection between the store and the sorting center. The space dividers provided a great story to complete the whole. The wonderful colors of the felt coverings come from hospital textiles.
Fittingly, the Monday of the opening week, November 20th, is Circular Monday. It is a reminder of circular economy services, while the Friday of the same week is the not-so-wise consumer culture shopping day, Black Friday. The purpose of the day is to highlight companies that repair, recycle and utilize resources that have previously been wasted.
Circular economy is not just a trend, it must become an essential part of our everyday life and business. Southwest Finland Waste Management (LSJH) has taken on a significant role in coordinating the recycling of Finnish textile waste. Gradually, an ecosystem is being created around the operation, where textiles circulate efficiently according to their potential. Some of the textiles and clothing end up being opened up into fibers, for example, in Vilikkala felt products. If you are interested in the attached room dividers, please contact us and we will plan together.
These room dividers are the first products made from recycled textile fibers to be launched in Finland, and we are constantly developing products to improve products and make them more versatile. Our mission is to help companies transform textile waste into a resource and part of the company's circular economy operations. The room dividers are made entirely in Finland. The frames are made by ADI Kalusteet Oy, the metal legs by Stremet Oy, and the felt by Vilikkala. The recycled textiles are launched into fiber by Rester Oy.
The fibers are opened from hospital textiles. The red is from the work clothes of paramedics and they also have a glittering reflective fabric. The green is from the textiles of the operating room staff and the dark blue is from other hospital work clothes. The turquoise is from the work clothes and protective clothing for cleanroom cleaning. The fibers are mainly polyester, but some are a blend, i.e. there is also cotton. The fibers are arranged by carding and at the same time 30% new bonded polyester has been added. The wadding carded in Vilikkala is calendered into felt using pressure and heat.
There are many useful services and beautiful products in the world. Vilikkala's textile services and felt products are also part of our customers' circular economy journey towards a more resource-efficient future, for the benefit of the climate and biodiversity. We manufacture felt and various felt products from waste textile fibers. Felt with a story – Vilikkala
