New CNC controlled fiber material cutting line put into operation
Vilikkala's goal is to grow its business in the services needed by Finnish textile companies and in the product development and manufacturing of felts and sheets made from recycled fibers. As part of these goals, we have acquired a new CNC cutting line, for which we have received Leader funding through Ykkösaksel.
The cutter can be used for fast cutting work, especially on textiles, felts and porous panels, up to 10 cm thick. There are a total of four cutting guides, of which two blades using different cutting techniques can be used at the same time. Porous panels can be cut at an angle of e.g. 45 degrees, enabling, for example, the production of shaped acoustic panels.
The cutting area is 1600 x 2500 mm, with an automatic conveyor belt. This allows the most efficient cutting pattern to be designed for the entire area to reduce waste (nesting).
The suction table ensures that the material is evenly attached to the cutting table surface to ensure a precise cut. The next area to be cut is fed from rolls from a separate feeder, enabling the production of large series.
"New technologies and digital services enable the transition to circular economy business models. The green transition always requires investments, it does not happen by itself."
Hannu Tuomola, Company founder
We have received Leader funding for the investment through Ykkösaksel. Many thanks for the support and for pushing the circular economy of textiles forward.

Vilikkala is located in Halikko, Salo. The company is part of Rester Oy's network utilizing recycled textile fibers. Textile lamination and cutting, as well as felt production from recycled fibers are Vilikkala's special expertise. Recycled fibers are a special opportunity for a clean transition, where textile waste is used as a raw material for recycled products.
